DENVER - More pet owners are giving up their dogs and cats- and fewer people are adopting those animals.

That's why the Dumb Friends League is reducing its dog and cat adoption fee to $50.

On any given day, there's 350 dogs and cats available to be adopted from the Dumb Friends League's Denver and Castle Rock shelters.

The $50 fee covers the spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, an office visit with a veterinarian, and pet microchipping.

Or you could look at that adoption fee another way:

"You can come here and find a $50 personal trainer, a home entertainment system, a life coach, a laptop," Dumb Friends League spokesperson Michelle Ray said. "We're just taking a fun turn I guess on what's out there to show people that you can come here and find your own personal trainer that'll get you outside, that's someone you can enjoy an experience with."
