Executive Vice President of Football Operation John Elway attended the joint announcement at the 9NEWS studios. He spoke of coming home to 9NEWS, referring to past partnerships with KUSA-TV.

"What a tremendously exciting day for all of us at 9NEWS. To have the Broncos back after a seven-year hiatus is immensely exciting. A new coach with a new team presents a number of unique and innovative programming opportunities for the Networks of 9NEWS," Cornetta said. "We're looking forward to working with the Denver Broncos, the great John Elway and Coach [John] Fox to give the people of Colorado the best coverage in more places than ever before."

"The passion that our fans have for the Denver Broncos is very special, and we are fortunate to have a partnership with KUSA-TV that enables us to reach out to them through all 9NEWS platforms with in-depth, exclusive programming," Ellis said in a statement. "KUSA's emphasis on community involvement also provides our organization with many outreach opportunities in the region.

9NEWS Complete Broncos Coverage will kick off with all the preseason games, beginning in August. In addition, the Broncos' regular-season opener will be broadcast on Monday night, Sept. 12 on KTVD My20.

The partnership agreement gives 9NEWS the exclusive rights to all preseason telecasts not done by a national network partner of the Broncos. 9NEWS will host a series of weekly programs related to the Broncos, including a weekly show with Elway.

"We look forward to working with KUSA and its award-winning staff to provide quality Broncos content that exceeds our fans' expectations, delivering comprehensive coverage year round and bringing them closer than ever to this team," Ellis said.

A statement released by 9NEWS said, "The 9NEWS sports staff, including Drew Soicher, Rod Mackey and Susie Wargin, will put fans in the locker room, in the huddle and on the 50-yard line with award-winning stories and programs as only 9NEWS can tell them."

The partnership isn't limited to only coverage of the Denver Broncos.

"The team also has plans to work in collaboration with Channel 9 on various community initiatives," a statement released by the Denver Broncos said.

More information regarding Broncos programming will be released over the summer as the season approaches.
