DENVER - The race to become the next mayor of Denver is in its final week.

The last debate of the campaign was held Tuesday evening and voters have until next Tuesday, June 7, to mail in their ballots.

Voter turnout, so far, is very low: Only 20,000 ballots out of nearly 300,000 have been returned.

Over the weekend, a Denver Post/9NEWS poll showed City Councilman Michael Hancock with a 10-point lead over former State Sen. Chris Romer.

9NEWS Political Analyst Floyd Ciruli believes it will be an active week for both candidates leading up to Election Day.

"It is getting late, but most of the people we expect to vote have not turned in their ballots. You could possibly see some late advertising or some late charges. If the polls are correct and Chris Romer is behind, then he is the person most likely to do something to try and change the dynamics in this race," Ciruli said.

Ciruli says voters should expect anything and everything from the candidates over the next week, including phone calls, fliers and door-to-doors visits.
