DENVER - It will train you to be a teacher and prepare you to teach in DPS. It supports committed and motivated people of all ages and backgrounds to become teachers. Ultimately, it has the purpose to improve student achievement in DPS.
For four days a week, participants in this new teaching program work in a DPS classroom - working along side a mentor teacher.
Then, one day a week, they take classes at the University of Denver's master's program for teaching.
After a year of this "residency," the participants are offered a contract to teach within DPS. After their second year as a teacher, they have the opportunity to receive a license and get their masters.
