"They were dressed like clowns. They came in wielding guns, basically had everybody get on the floor, went around and started taking merchandise," Nedler told 9NEWS.
Denver Police say about 10:44 Wednesday morning, two black men with faces painted white and their lips black, came into the store wielding guns.
Nedler said they took all kinds of jewelry.
"Just took a lot of jewelry, went in took a lot of bridal jewelry, gold jewelry. Not sure if they really knew one from another. It was kind of scattered," he said.
However, he says some of the jewelry was fake. The store often keeps what is called "sample" jewelry in display cases as a precaution and because the rising cost of gold has made it difficult to stock some pieces. Nedler says the thieves got away with a mix of real and sample jewelry. The store plans to do an inventory on Thursday, but says all the jewelry was insured.
Police do not have a description of the car because Nedler says when the thieves left, they ran across the Nordstrom Rack parking lot and he believes their vehicle was parked on the other side of the building.
