COLORADO SPRINGS - A doctor who lost his wife and three children in southern Wyoming when their van drove into a washout earlier this summer is talking about his loss publicly for the first time.

"My girls are smiling down on us every day," Alex Constantinides said.

Constantinides lost his wife, Laurel, and three daughters, 8-year-old Hannah, 5-year-old Zoe and 2-year-old Lucia in July.

The entire family was evacuating a campground near Saratoga, Wyo. in the middle of the night. But the flash flooding that forced them out also washed out a road that their van drove into.

Constantinides is getting a lot of support from friends who are helping put on a 5k run this weekend in the family's honor, to support a foundation that helps orphaned children in China.

Constantinides says from the moment he fires the starting gun until he himself crosses the finish line, he knows his wife and daughters will be with him all the way.
