Gabriel Romero is with Xcel Energy says Xcel has brought in additional crews from the western slope, Texas and New Mexico to help with all the repairs. The crews are working to clear the lines and get power restored as soon as possible, but the job will take some time.

"We estimate that most of the remaining customers will have power by [Friday] evening," Romero said. "[We] anticipate all customers will have service restored by Friday afternoon."

The majority of the outages are in the Denver metro area as well as Fort Collins, Boulder and Greeley.

When tackling power outages, workers focus on the larger problems first then move on to smaller issues such as homes.

On Thursday night, Xcel Energy said 25,000 customers still did not have power. In Denver and Boulder there were 14,600 customers suffering outages, but Xcel said it hoped to have all of Boulder restored on Thursday night. Fort Collins still had 2,900 outages and Greeley had 7,700. Xcel is asking Greeley customers without power to call 1-800-895-1999.

Poudre Valley REA had its latest number of outages at 1,100.

In Loveland, only 90 customers were still without power by Thursday night.
