DENVER - After 9Wants to Know found toll money collected by the company that runs E-470 covered massages, bonuses and stays at luxury hotels, a Colorado lawmaker says E-470 spending may need a hard look.

Sen. Evie Hudak (D-Westminster) told 9Wants to Know she is working with other lawmakers to bring E-470 executives in for hearings on the issue.

Hudak is the chair of the Senate Transportation Committee.

That hearing could result in an audit.

"These are serious charges. I have reached out to the chair of the House Transportation Committee and we have agreed to ask the E-470 Public Highway Authority to come before our committees to explain these issues. Based on this testimony the committees will determine whether or not to proceed with a legislative audit," Hudak said in a statement.

Such a hearing could take place at the beginning of the next legislative session next year.

E-470 Executive Director John McCuskey defended the spending in the 9Wants to Know report Monday night, calling the expenses and trips necessary and the cost of doing business.
