DENVER - An anti-occupy group staged its own protest in Denver Saturday as the Occupy Wall Street movement nears the three-month mark.
Grassroots activists who say they are supporters of free markets and liberty gathered on the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol.
Republican state senator Shawn Mitchell spear-headed the counter demonstration to the Occupy Protesters.
It was actually canceled due to weather, but people still showed up.
Mitchell says he's on the same page with the Occupiers in that he's against big government becoming too cozy with big business. But he says he disagrees with the Occupy movement's proposed solutions.
"We think what we need is not more government, but more freedom. If there's too much coziness between big government and big business, the answer isn't to kneecap corporations. The answer is to reform government and get it out of the business of trying to manage the economy," Mitchell said.
Just across the street, Occupy Denver protesters gathered like they have been every Saturday in recent weeks.
It looks like the cold, snowy weather didn't stop them but it has led to smaller crowds.
