The Grand County Sheriff's Office says they are looking for 29-year-old Jerod Morris Reeves and 35-year-old Kimberly Mae McCaffery. Both are from Craig, Colo.
William Ahrold was found dead with his 9-year-old-son Jackson in Grand County on Saturday. Deputies believe Ahrold shot and killed his son before killing himself.
Investigators say they initially tracked Reeves and McCaffery through the use of Ahrold's credit cards. They also use surveillance photos taken of the two using the cards.
The car the two were driving was left in Cheyenne, Wyo. and has been recovered, according to deputies.
Investigators are still looking for Reeves and McCaffery.
A person with the same name as McCaffery failed to appear in an Eagle County courtroom Wednesday on drug charges.
The 9Wants to Know investigators also found a person with the same name as Reeves who has a lengthy arrest record for drugs.
He was last arrested in October.
Denver Police say they were called to an attempted burglary on Wednesday at Ahrold's empty home after a neighbor called 911 after noticing people looking into Ahrold's home around noon.
Officers say there was no forced entry at Ahrold's home. Police say the two suspects left the scene but left their car at the scene. Officers say the attempted robbery is not connected to Ahrold's death. Descriptions of the suspects have not been released.
Ahrold and his son were last seen on Dec. 9 and were reported missing by the Denver Police on Dec. 13. They were found dead in a white van just off County Road 1 at the end of County Road 102 in southwest Grand County. Grand County deputies believe the pair had been dead for several days.
A team of 12 investigators with the CBI are working on this case.
