DENVER - UPS says the snow storm that hit Colorado earlier this week created a big delay, which means some packages will not be delivered by Christmas.
"We know it's Christmas. We apologize for the delay but we can't control the weather," UPS spokesperson Natalie Godwin told 9NEWS on Saturday.
She says since UPS is closed on Sunday and Monday, they will sort and get out the remaining packages on Tuesday. About 50,000 packages into the Denver area were affected.
"This was the biggest debacle I have ever experienced," said Phyllis Kadison who received her package 8 hours after arriving at the UPS warehouse.
If a person paid for a package with a confirmed Saturday delivery and it is not delivered on Saturday, they will get a refund.
9NEWS heard from many frustrated viewers about the huge lines at the UPS hub in Commerce City. Hundreds of people were in line trying to get their packages.
Jacqueline Camack was waiting on a special delivery.
"I'm standing here waiting for a Santa suit that my husband was going to dress up and take presents to unfortunate kids," Camack said.
Camack received her package shortly before closing time.
UPS says customers should not go to the hub to try and get their package because they are being sent to the trucks.
Some 9NEWS viewers said they went to the hub because they were told by UPS they could pick up their packages. They then waited in line for three hours only to be told the package was not there.
