Police said Tuesday that officers who stopped a vehicle Dec. 28 learned the three juveniles inside had just bought marijuana from an apartment.
"Once they got a search warrant and entered the apartment, they saw a major operation," Barbara Miller, spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department, said.
Officers who executed a search warrant for the apartment say they found the dispensary, marijuana, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and prescription pills there. Investigators say they also tracked down another location where the marijuana was grown.
Police say the grow operation and its owners didn't have current Colorado medical marijuana registry certificates.
Perhaps the biggest concern for police is when they found a dozen bulletproof vests and 27 firearms.
"They could have been used for bank robberies, armed robberies or crimes against people," Miller said.
Twenty-eight-year-olds Peter Mattaroo and Kristine Bauer were arrested in the case. Police say two more arrests are pending.
Mattaroo and Bauer didn't immediately respond to emails seeking comment Tuesday.
