Alexandra Elizabeth McLean has been charged with two counts of sexual assault by a person in a position of trust.
Englewood Police say they received a call from a 29-year-old woman on Nov. 19 saying her younger sister is friends with a 17-year-old boy who had bragged about a sexual relationship with McLean. The student says McLean would drive him home from school after play rehearsal. He said sometimes they would stop to talk and that eventually led to a sexual relationship.
Police have combed through a lengthy log of text messages between the teacher and the student.
Police say in the beginning, McLean didn't care for the student because he missed rehearsals. Their relationship developed when McLean noticed she and the boy had similar interests in music.
Two other employees brought their concerns to the principal after witnessing the teacher make inappropriate comments and leaving with the student.
Police seized McLean's car and cellphone on Nov. 28. She would not talk to police without a lawyer.
The student told police t was consensual sex and McLean did not promise him anything or threaten him. He said he kissed her first.
He also said they had sex in her car twice, and that he did not wear a condom.
McLean no longer works at the school. It is not clear whether she quit or was terminated.
McLean replaced Bill Ambron who had been the theater teacher before he retired after 30 years at the school.
McLean worked at the school from Aug. 11 to Nov. 18 of last year.
