College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Royce White had his first career
triple-double in helping Iowa State take down Texas A&M, 74-50, in Big 12
Conference play at Reed Arena.
White had 10 points, 10 assists and a career-high 18 rebounds in collecting
the fourth triple-double in Iowa State history. Four other Cyclones (12-3, 2-0
Big 12) finished in double figures with Melvin Ejim's 15 points off the
bench the team's highest individual output. Scott Christopherson had 13, Chris
Babb 11 and Chris Allen 10 points as Iowa State won its seventh straight.
Ray Turner had a double-double off the bench, scoring 13 points and pulling
down 12 rebounds for Texas A&M (9-5, 0-2). Elston Turner had 11 points and
Dash Harris scored 10 for the Aggies who have lost four of their last five.
It took almost three minutes for either team to put up a point in the first
half, with Texas A&M going up 2-0 on a Harris layup at the 17:08 mark. From
there it was all Iowa State as the Cyclones went into the half up 42-23. The
Aggies were held to just 28.6 percent shooting in the opening frame, while
Iowa State connected on 16-of-31 from the floor, including 6-of-15 on three-
point attempts.
In the second half Texas A&M continued to struggle shooting the ball,
converting only 34.4 percent from the floor. The Aggies had trouble out on the
perimeter the entire game, knocking down only 4-of-22 attempts from beyond the
arc while the Cyclones put in 8-of-23 attempts from three-point range.
