KUSA - Just about every dog lover knows Cesar Millan. We checked in with "The Dog Whisperer" on 9NEWS At Noon.

Millan is a self-taught dog behavior specialist. His love of dogs started at a very young age and over the years, he has developed an amazing ability to rehab problem pooches.

His award-winning series, "Dog Whisperer With Cesar Millan," is now in its eighth season and it has a new home on Nat Geo WILD.

Millan said one of his favorite new episodes focuses on dogs suffering from phobias and obsessions. In another, he pays a visit to Fort Hood, Texas, to take a handful of four-legged Army brats back to boot camp.

Millan says no scenario is too much for him to handle. He says his goal is to rehabilitate dogs and train people to achieve a balanced and natural relationship with their pets.

In addition to co-creating and starring in "Dog Whisperer," Millan has co-authored six books including the New York Times #1 Bestseller Cesar's Way. He has also generated numerous instructional DVDs and CDs, and continues to host a popular series of seminars where attendees learn how to apply his extensive knowledge of dog psychology and rehabilitation techniques.

Millan was born in rural Culiacan, Mexico, and grew up in a small house with no amenities. He spent much of his early childhood on his grandfather's farm in nearby Ixpalino, where he observed the behavior of the farm's many dogs.

When he was a teenager, his family purchased their first TV set. He preferred the classic "Lassie" and "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" series and, inspired by them, dreamed that he would move to California and become the world's best dog trainer.
