SUMMITY COUNTY - By car and bus they came - and Breckenridge was ready for them.
"It's going to be a busy day," Fred Williamson said.
The Town of Breckenridge employee spent his Saturday morning directing a skier and snowboarder swell that blew into town on the winds of yesterday's big snow storm.
By 9:00 a.m., town parking lots were full. After 9 inches of snow, eager skiers flocked to the mountains, many sitting in traffic on I-70 for several hours.
Nearly 20,000 people were expected to ski Breckenridge on Saturday. Some came for the snow sculpture championships.
"We came up to take pictures of the snow sculptures," Mike Tallody said.
Willamson said the day is just as busy toward the end, when everyone starts leaving.
