Irvine, CA (Sports Network) - Chris McNealy scored 16 points to lead the UC
Irvine Anteaters as they defeated the UC Davis Aggies 68-61 in a Big West
Conference clash at the Bren Events Center.
Daman Starring finished with 13 points and six assists for UC Irvine (9-13,
5-4 Big West). Michael Wilder added 12 points and Adam Folker had 11 points
and eight rebounds.
Josh Ritchart paced the Aggies (1-20, 0-9) with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Harrison DuPont and Eddie Miller had 11 points each while Tyrell Corbin dished
out six assists. UC Davis has now lost 17 in a row.
UC Irvine took a 32-28 lead into the intermission after it shot 45.8 percent
from the field and knocked down 5-of-9 from three-point range in the opening
period. UC Davis made 48 percent of its field goals but just 2-of-5 from
beyond the arc in the first half.
The contest was tied 53-53 with just over four minutes to play, but the
Anteaters knocked down consecutive three-pointers to pull away. UC Davis would
get no closer than six points for the remainder of the contest.
Despite the loss, the Aggies held a 43-34 advantage in the rebounding battle.
UC Irvine managed to win despite shooting 50 percent from the charity stripe.
