A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for mountain areas west of Vail Pass until 6 a.m. Wednesday. The Park and Elkhead Mountains, San Juans and Sawatch Mountains could see 6 to 14 inches of snow accumulation by Wednesday morning.

East of Vail Pass, mountain areas north of Interstate 70 could see 2 to 5 more inches of snow accumulation, while areas south of I-70 will see accumulation in the 1- to 3-inch range.

9NEWS Meteorologist Marty Coniglio is forecasting only a few stray snowflakes over the Front Range overnight, with no accumulation of snow. The Wednesday morning commute will be unaffected be any snowfall.

There is a small chance for a few light flurries again late Wednesday night but Marty says that they will be very limited in scope with little to no accumulation for Denver and the Front Range.

The forecast for the weekend will continue to evolve, so stay tuned to the networks of 9NEWS for the latest on the weekend's developing storm.
