Arapahoe County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday morning to remove Pat Sullivan's name from the jail and rename the facility after its original name-the Arapahoe County Detention Center.

About 30 minutes after the meeting, 9Wants to Know visited the jail and found the name was already removed.

"Although it may have been a bit of an embarrassment, the men and women of the sheriff's office continue to serve with pride and with dignity," Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.

Sullivan, 69, is currently serving a 30-day jail sentence for felony drug possession and soliciting a prostitute.

The former sheriff was caught on undercover video handing meth to a male prostitute during a sting operation last November.

In 2002, the jail was named the Patrick J. Sullivan Detention center in honor of Sullivan's retirement. Sullivan served as Arapahoe County Sheriff from 1984 to 2002.

The commission may vote a proposed county-wide building naming policy in a few weeks. The policy would require names to come from geographical locations or street names. The proposed naming policy would prohibit names from people.
