The statistics showed there were 306 bookings of 149 different gang members into the Larimer County Jail. This accounted for about 12 percent of the total bookings for the jail. There were also reports on planned gang fights and assaults.
Jail administrators and Special Emergency Response Team members have been able to prevent significant violence outbreaks. Though costly, the jail staff's proactive measures have been helpful for violence prevention, according to deputies.
The Sheriff's Office notes that the recent gang stabbing in Fort Collins should serve as a reminder of the violent nature of gangs in Larimer County.
