Linch was pulled over near Aurora by an Arapahoe County Sheriff's deputy on Tuesday morning. He was going 41 in a 30 mile an hour speed zone.

"It was quite concerning not knowing what to do as a father, feeling helpless, do I just keep going and take care of my family and my wife that's in labor or do I stop and explain myself?" Linch told 9NEWS after emailing a newstip to the Information Center.

"I opted on doing what I thought was right and I was still detained longer than we probably should have been."

Jacob Linch was born 20 minutes after his parents arrived at Sky Ridge Hospital.

Mom and baby are doing well.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office told 9NEWS the deputy offered to call an ambulance for the Linch family if it was an emergency but was told it was not an emergency.

When they declined - he was given the $167.00 speeding ticket.
