Eligible property owners can claim up to $2,500 in tax credit from the State of Colorado until 2013.
The tax write-off helps people who hire workers to clear their property of wildfire risk.
The work also to be approved through a Community Wildfire Protection Plan - a type of document 196 communities in Colorado have put together to assess risk in communities with urban interface near wildfire prone areas.
Homeowners associations and various communities are also eligible for grant money to help clear land. Those grants are available through Colorado State's website. Applications are due for those grants July 20.
