From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7-Eleven is giving away their signature frozen treat. The free drink will be given away in a 7.11-ounce cup. This is to celebrate it's 85th anniversary.

The chain store is also offering free 7 oz. Slurpees at Cinemark theatres from 7 to 11 p.m.

In celebration of this event - along with 9NEWS Anchor TaRhonda Thomas' birthday -the 9NEWS morning team had a Slurpee drink-off. Kyle Dyer admitted the trick to avoiding brain freeze is to never let the frozen drink hit the roof of your mouth.

7-Eleven originally started in Dallas, Texas, and was originally called the Southland Ice Company. The name changed to reflect their original hours - 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. - but is now open 24 hours a day.
