A Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman told The Gazette the mud was as deep as 5 feet on one part of the highway Monday.

Nearly 3 inches of rain was reported near Crystola in El Paso County between Monday and early Tuesday.

Hail also fell in some areas.

More rain is possible Tuesday and the National Weather Service says there's an elevated potential for flash flooding in the burn area because the ground is already so wet.
