Young Americans Bank turns 25

On 9NEWS 5 a.m. Gregg Moss spent time with 9-year-old Nyla Higgs, who runs a lemonade business, Aahhh2J's Lemonade. Young Americans Bank helped her get started.

The bank was the brainchild of cable pioneer Bill Daniels.
He wanted to make sure that young people in Colorado knew the value of saving and personal finance.

Customer have to be under 21 to have an account at the bank. The average customer's age is 13. The bank now has 16,000 active accounts.

On Saturday, August 4th, Young Americans Bank is hosting a birthday carnival as part of their 25th anniversary. The fun will include cash prizes, free food, trivia games, a time capsule ceremony and more.
