Police are asking the community to come forward if they saw anything that was suspicious or out of place near the Ketner Lake Open Space during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Investigators say they have re-interviewed the victim from May and feel confident the close time frame and proximity may bring up similar clues in both cases.

"It's not very far from where Jessica was abducted," Westminster Police Spokesman Trevor Materasso said. "We want to look at those two characteristics and see if anybody has information they could provide."

The suspect in the Memorial Day case is described as follows:

  • Light skinned male
  • 18 - 30's (or someone who's appearance with a ball cap may look that age)
  • Brown hair
  • Medium build
  • 5'06" to 5'08" (Height can vary above or below these approximations)

In the attempted abduction case, the woman reported that a man grabbed her from behind and placed a rag over her mouth that had a chemical smell.

Former FBI Profiler Clint Van Zandt says police still have to solve the other case.

They have more resources now, while at the same time, trying to figure out if a man who went after an older woman went after a little girl as well.

"There's always the possibility that because he failed in his attempt to kidnap an adult woman he may have gone to someone he felt more in control of, and that's a younger child," Van Zandt said.

Metro-area investigators and the FBI are looking into recent reported abduction attempts to see if their may be a link to the Jessica case.

The FBI and the Behavioral Analysis Unit are asking the public to contact authorities if anyone around them changed their behavior, acted unusual, failed to show up for a family activity or other change that was unusual on October 5, 2012 and days after Jessica's disappearance and the Memorial Day weekend.
