Veterans were offered clothing items, sleeping bags, boots, free flu shots, haircuts, and eye-glass repair. Warren Technical School of Culinary Arts also prepared hot meals.
Advisers also counseled homeless veterans on how to secure jobs and housing.
The Women Veterans of Colorado also provided female veterans with toiletries. The Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars donated money for RTD bus tickets and grocery gift cards.
Since 1988, Homeless Veteran Stand Downs are designed to transform the despair and immobility of homelessness into the momentum necessary to get into recovery, to resolve legal issues, to seek employment, to access health services and benefits, to reconnect with the community and acquire housing," the organizers said.
