The Cyber Monday crackdown comes on what was expected to be the biggest online shopping day of the year. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations coordinated the effort with Europol and police in Belgium, Denmark, France, Romania and the United Kingdom.

Authorities say it's the third consecutive Cyber Monday that websites selling knockoff sports jerseys, DVDs and other goods have been targeted.

In Colorado, fake Peyton Manning jerseys and fake brand-name baby carriers were bought undercover. The items were then confirmed as counterfeits with the legitimate manufacturers, allowing federal authorities to seize the domain names of the sites.

"Our concern is this is a big revenue generator for transnational criminal organizations," said Kumar Kibble, the special agent in charge for the Rocky Mountain region of Homeland Security. "Where we see large scale activity, we'll go after those kinds of websites."

Site visitors now see a banner explaining the seizure and copyright infringement.

Homeland Security field offices in Buffalo, N.Y., New Jersey, California, Maryland, Colorado and Texas investigated.

Since the crackdowns began in 2010, ICE says more than 1,600 bogus domains have been seized.
