As of 9:30 Monday night there were no reports of customers losing service. Excel crews worked Monday night to repair the line, which was estimated to take three to five hours.
A 9NEWS photographer on scene of the leak said there was a strong odor in the air.
Excel says despite the odor, which they describe as rotten eggs, there is no threat to the neighborhood.
