Denver Police Spokesperson Sonny Jackson says they were searching for 3-year-old Jordyn Darling Martinez and her biological mother Yolanda Martinez.
Martinez's rights to Jordyn were terminated in 2010 in Jefferson County. The girl's adoptive mother, Sarah Holden, says she adopted the toddler on Nov. 19, 2011. Martinez is Holden's aunt.
Holden tells 9NEWS that her grandmother - who was babysitting Jordyn Wednesday when she became ill - called Holden's aunt to take her to the hospital.
While they were waiting for treatment, the grandmother gave Martinez money to buy Jordyn lunch. Jordyn and Martinez have not been seen since.
Martinez does spend some time with her child even though her parental rights were terminated.
