That is exactly what happened this past Sunday afternoon when a woman walked out of Perfect Pets in Southwest Plaza Mall with a six month old female Yorkshire terrier. The dog is described as having silver, black and light tan hair.

Surveillance video shows a woman enter the store and pick up the dog. She then walks to the back of the store with the dog before returning to the front and exiting the store. The woman and dog can also be seen on surveillance video of other stores in the mall.

The dog is valued at $1,300, but the store owner's primary concern is for the well being of the puppy.

"It is a little creature. It is a living thing. It is living and you're just not sure of the fate of the animal," store employee Bianca Larson said. "[The thief] is smiling through the whole video and you just wonder what she's thinking."

The owners of the pet store are offering a $250 reward for the safe return of the dog and information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for taking the dog.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
