Douglas County 1st grader dies of strep throat complications

Douglas county schools sent a note to parents at Pine Lane elementary school. Tri-County Health officials say this type of death is rare, but strep needs to be taken seriously.

9NEWS Health Reporter Dr. Torres says right now strep is going around.

Watch for sore throat, swollen neck glands, a fever, and no cough. If the symptoms last 24 hours.. Call your doctor.
