2 dead after wreck on eastbound Interstate 70 near Deer Trail, closes highway for hours

The closure was near mile marker 329. Colorado State Patrol says an icy patch on the roadway caused the crash.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the first call came in at 8:47 a.m. 

Two vehicles were involved - a semi-truck and a Nissan Pathfinder. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. The woman driving the SUV and her male passenger both died. Colorado State Patrol says both victims are Coloradans, however their names have not been released.

The highway reopened just before noon.
