Large crowds are also jamming malls and shopping centers around the Denver metro area as the final retail push gets underway.

Many retailers, such as Macy's, Kohl's and Toy R Us, are open around the clock.

"We've done this for other areas in the country, and due to the tremendous success of the extended hours we're expanding this shopping marathon across the country," Melissa Goff, spokesperson for Macy's, said.

Macy's won't close its doors until Sunday at midnight. They will reopen Christmas Eve morning.

A Toys R Us spokesperson says their stores will remain open until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Nationwide, Friday and Saturday sales is expected to yield $34 billion, accounting for roughly 8 percent of the $400 billion in December sales.
