Taylor purchased a brand new IPad at a local retail store. When her father opened it on Christmas Day - the family was surprised.

Taylor told 9NEWS that inside the box was a stack of phone book pages from Florida and blank sheets of paper.

This has happened at other stores before where thieves will buy an item, replace the box with junk, wrap it back up and take it back to the store for a refund.

Taylor plans to return to the store Wednesday.
