Fresh snow is expected to fall soon on the up to 20 inches the mountains saw on Christmas Eve.
The snowfall has come just in time for the big rush at Keystone and other ski resorts along the I-70 corridor. This is the busiest time of the year for the resorts with all the folks in from outside Colorado.
A few weeks ago, the ski resorts had very little terrain open. Over the past few weeks, ski runs have been opening nearly every day. Keystone is about 50 percent open now with skiiing on all three peaks. The snow is not just good news for the resorts. It is also good news for businesses in and around the resorts as well.
Christmas week represents about 10 percent of the year's total sales for some places and the arrival of snow along with the tourists is a good thing heading into the New Year.
To give you an idea of how big this week is for business, we asked three families from the Midwest how much they plan on spending here in Colorado. Those figures ranged from $4,000 to $8,000 each family.
