Both incidents happened during the morning . The most recent incident happened on the eastern part of the Boulder Creek bike path.

Thursday morning, a man who was cycling to work was chased by a coyote on the path just east of Foothills Parkway.

On Monday morning, a woman walking with a dog was harassed by a coyote and managed to get away after hitting it repeatedly with a stick.

"In this situation, it sounds more like a territorial thing. It doesn't like people being in that area, and so people need to have heightened awareness and make sure they are doing everything they can to feel comfortable when they are out using this bike path," Jennifer Churchill of Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports the cyclist said the coyote came right up to his pedal, and he kicked and yelled. The coyote dropped back but then sprinted after him again.

Churchill says if a coyote approaches, you should be aggressive too.

She also advises never feed coyotes. If you do, they become used to humans and may approach for food.
