Both Republicans and Democrats are bickering back and forth about the solution to avoid falling off the fiscal cliff. The deadline is Monday night.
"I still believe a deal is possible," said 9NEWS Political Expert Ryan Frazier, a Republican. "That republicans and democrats realize the magnitude of not making a deal at all and hopefully between now and Monday morning they'll come together with a solution that at least gets us over the next year".
"You have the House of Representatives and a senate that cut a deal forcing themselves in to this position hoping the pressure of a deadline and a looming cliff would bring some action. That didn't happen so now we're just about New Year's eve and we don't have a deal," said 9NEWS Political Expert Andrew Romanoff, a Democrat.
If a deal isn't reached, there will be $110 billion in cuts to domestic and military programs.
