During the month of January, the Aurora Police Department is holding self-defense classes for kids.

Sergeant Graham Dunne and Officer Dave Wells with Aurora Police stopped by the 9NEWS studio Saturday to show off some techniques - on their own children - that will be offered in the classes.

The free training classes for children between the ages of six and 12 will be held at the Aurora Police Training Academy Gym at 13387 E. 19th Pl. on the following days:

Jan. 8, 2013

Jan 16, 2013

Jan 24, 2013

Jan 30, 2013

The program will start at 6:30 p.m. on each of the scheduled nights. Officers will provide instructional information to children and their parents.

All classes are open to the public and limited to the first 25 children plus parents. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

To register for the class, call 303-739-1804. Leave a message including your name and phone number and you will receive a confirmation return phone call.
