According to Lakewood Police, the crash occurred near 10th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.
Police say the father got the worst of it because he tried to shield his daughter from the impact.
A Good Samaritan followed the driver to 6th Avenue and Ingalls Street, where he got into a second collision and took off running.
The suspect, who was later identified as Ernesto Espino, was arrested on Monday. Espino was caught after allegedly running onto a golf course at the Lakewood Country Club. He was arrested on many charges, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, hit-and-run with failure to remain on the scene, reckless driving, no proof of insurance, failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk and vehicular assault.
Police say the victims' injuries are non-life threatening.
