Thornton police say one of the five suspects in that incident threatened to shoot a person after learning of the child's death earlier Wednesday morning.

The death of the infant is under investigation.

The gun did not go off and the suspect fled the scene in a red truck.

After the man left, police were called and authorities were on the look out for a red truck.

The truck matching the description was later spotted by Denver police and a short pursuit began which ended in a crash on West 38th Avenue and Osage Street.

Denver Police Sgt. Bob Motyka was shot in the shoulder as he chased the suspects. One of the suspects was shot and killed after the crash.

One suspect was hospitalized in critical condition, one suffered a dog bite, and a female suspect sustained injuries believed to be from the crash at the scene. A fifth suspect got away but was later arrested.
