A company spokeswoman said Wednesday the percentage of job cuts are in the low single digits, but she refused to be specific. The company employs about 11,000 worldwide.
According to the Denver Post, the company says it made most of the cuts by eliminating redundant positions.
Level 3 builds, protects and manages communication networks for major companies. After the acquisition of Global Crossing in 2011, Level 3 said it planned to provide services for large companies, web content and government customers, using fiber networks in more than 45 countries.
