The two suspects, James Gonzales, 26, and Michael Martinez, 28, both of Denver, were flown to Swedish Hospital with serious injuries.
It happened when authorities were notified of a single rollover crash on Highway 34 near CR Q just before 1 p.m. Monday.
Another motorist offered to help the two men in the rolled Toyota FJ Cruiser when troopers say the suspects stole the Good Samaritan's car at gunpoint and took off.
Washington County deputies, responding to the crash, gave chase after the suspects in the stolen car, a Nissan, failed to stop.
At one point during the chase, troopers say the two men opened fire at the pursuing deputies. Shots were not returned and no one was hit.
The pursuit continued through the towns of Akron, Otis and Yuma. The Nissan was eventually forced off the road.
The stolen Nissan rolled, ejecting the passenger and trapping the driver inside.
Troopers say the Toyota FJ Cruiser was reported stolen from Westminster Saturday.
