WELD COUNTY - Weld County DA Ken Buck will not pursue charges against a Johnstown man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
David Calderon, 38, was facing multiple charges including kidnapping in the alleged incident.
The teen was reported missing last Tuesday. She told police she was forced inside Calderon's car in front of Hays Market and held against her will for nearly three days. She also claimed she was sexually assaulted during that time.
Police say she left troubling messages to her friends on social media during the time she went missing.
While charges will not be filed at this time, the District Attorney emphasizes that the investigation remains active and that charges could still be filed at a later time.
During Calderon's court appearance Friday, his sister told 9NEWS that she believes the teen is lying.
"For this little girl to come in out of nowhere and do all this to hurt us in this way, when she has previous runaways? I don't get it," Calderon's sister said.
