PAONIA - Corey Nelson went on a hunting trip with his family and close friends and took his camera with him, as he always does.

"It is nice to be able to look back on the photos and be able to remember and talk about them," Nelson said.

Those photos that Nelson took on this hunting trip will provide him with memories. What he never expected was that while hunting he found someone else's memories.

"I saw something on the edge of the road and just stopped and got out and went and looked at it, and it was a camera," Nelson said. "It had been run over several times."

The camera was destroyed, but the memory card inside was unbroken.

"I put it in my camera and looked through it and saw some photos of different things," Nelson said.

There are more than one hundred photos on the memory card. They images of family gatherings and smiling faces. Some are photos of a hunting camp near where Nelson found the camera.

One of the photos offers a clue about who is in the picture. It is a high school graduation photo that has a reference to Prairie Valley High School.

9News contacted the principal of Prairie Valley High School in Farnhamville, Iowa and asked him to take a look at the photo. He recognized several people in the photo as graduates from his school.

The principal is contacting those individuals to see if the camera is theirs.

"I mean anytime you take photos it is for memories," Nelson said.

It is the reason he brought the memory card home and is now trying to locate the owner of the camera.

"If we can help anybody else out a little bit, we will," Nelson said.
