DENVER - An ethics investigation will continue against Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler.
Gessler sued the state ethics commission, trying to get a restraining order to block the investigation into his alleged misuse of state travel funds. He says the ethics probe is politically motivated.
Gessler has angered Democrats with what they see as over-reaching efforts to get non-citizens off of voter rolls. Colorado Ethics Watch says he's just trying to cover up what he's done wrong.
Denver DA Mitch Morrissey is looking into the case and may file criminal charges.
Gessler's attorneys plan to appeal to the state supreme court to try to block the ethics investigation. They say the ethics law is written too broadly.
