KUSA - This past week marked the anniversary of a website about sex here in Colorado.

Yet, it's likely not a site that will get you in trouble with your spouse or your significant other. In fact, it may help.

Beforeplay.org is a statewide initiative by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to promote safe conversation and "normalize" talk about sexual health in Colorado.

The Colorado Initiative to Reduce Unintended Pregnancy is also involved.

"It's for people my age. It's for people 18 years old to 29," said Nathalie Perez, an advocate for the website.

She had her daughter at 18, and says a website like Beforeplay would have helped answer many questions she had.

"I was a single mom, [a] young mom," she said. "I didn't want to talk to anybody about sex or STDs or pregnancy. It was just extremely uncomfortable."

Perez has spoken to college crowds and other young people about the sexual health campaign that started to help combat unintended pregnancies in Colorado.

"Unintended pregnancy is a big issue here in Colorado," said Greta Klingler, the Family Planning Supervisor for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. "It's actually one of the state's public health winnable battles."

Nearly 50 percent of Colorado pregnancies are unintended, according to the campaign's creators. The rate is even higher among young adults in their twenties, they say. Which is why the website targets those younger adults in Colorado.

"There wasn't anything out there to get really comprehensive accurate information in a really meaningful understandable kind of way," Klingler said.

The website also targets Hispanics with a bilingual version.

"If I can get to one person at least, I feel like I've done my job," Perez said.

Perez also encouraged young adults to text anonymous questions about sexual health for answers.

You can do that by Texting "BEFOREPLAY" to 57890.
