DENVER - Isabel "Bella" Perez, the 2-year-old girl shot by her mom on Feb. 6, is awake and moving according to her uncle Tony Nunez.
Bella's mom Mayra Nunez, 23, shot her two other children, Naveah Morales, 6, and Eric Perez, 1, to death before killing herself.
Nunez told 9NEWS, Bella's father Ricky Perez wanted "to say thank you to everyone out there who's praying, and the donations the family has received."
Nunez says Bella was waking up more often and breathing on her own. She is following people who are walking into her room, also. The family is not sure if she's fully recognizing people yet.
"She cries here [or] there. She has some hand and arm movement," Nunez said.
Bella will eventually be moved to Children's Hospital Colorado for therapy.
Nunez says Bella's doctors at Denver Health are surprised how well she's doing in her recovery. According to him, Denver Health wants to keep her for two more weeks. It's unclear how soon the 2-year-old will be able to talk again.
If you still want to help the family, you can do so through the fund they have set up at Wells Fargo for Isabel Perez, account # 6257187770, routing # 121000248.
