DENVER (AP) - One of two Denver police officers fired after being accused of lying about their involvement in a videotaped beating will be reinstated with back pay and benefits.
A Civil Service hearing panel ruled Cpl. Randy Murr did not lie and his termination was inappropriate. The panel let stand the dismissal of officer Devin Sparks.
According to the Denver Post, the firings followed the release of a video showing the officers throwing Michael DeHerrera to the ground outside a downtown nightclub in April 2009. The officers were accused of lying during an investigation into the arrest.
