DENVER - Denver police have a man in custody they say started a fire in a home he barricaded himself in for at least an hour.
It happened in the Five Points neighborhood near 28th and Larimer Streets around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Police say the suspect was breaking into cars in the area and ran into the home when he noticed police. A resident of the home ran out when the suspect entered.
Police and SWAT had the house surrounded and tried to coax the man to come out.
Police say sometime during the standoff he started a fire inside the home. That's when SWAT kicked in the door and took the man in to custody.
Denver fire crews extinguished the fire. It's not clear how large the fire was or how much damage it caused.
It's not known if the suspect was armed. His name has not been released at this time. There were no injuries.
